    This morning, Mavericks Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry – chosen by the NBA as the official spokesmen for NBA Jam Session – are scheduled to appear this morning at an assembly for students at Sam Tasby Middle School in Dallas to unveil the Rookie and Sophomore team rosters for the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge & Youth Jam.

   So the kids will be the first to know.

   And we’ll hustle to make sure you’re the second to know.

   Roddy Beaubois? Repping the home team? Please?

   The young players selected will participate in the Friday night All-Star competition.  The T-Mobile Rookie Challenge & Youth Jam will be played at American Airlines Center on Friday, Feb. 12 at 8 p.m. CT and feature this year's top rookies taking on the league's best second-year players. 

   Roddy's chances? We'll see. While it makes some sense to have some hometown flavor, the rookie competition is tough, with candidates like Brandon Jennings, Tyreke Evans, James Harden, Johnny Flynn, Stephon Curry, DeJuan Blair, Darren Collision, Ty Lawson, Jordan Hill, Jonas Jerebko, Marcus Thornton, Taj Gibson and Omri Casspi.
