A home-game, gameday, pre-game regular feature, scrabbled together after visiting with coach Rick Carlisle, with a Mav or five in the locker room and with assorted other Mavs-associated sportos, motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, waistoids, dweebies, dickheads - they all adore me – and then topping it off with a Gerald Green Honorarium Arena Hot Dog.
Lotsa items as we ready for Hornets-at-Mavs tipoff:.Rick is sick. Cuban ain’t fumin’. And “Mr. Big Knee’’ – a.k.a. Chauncey Billups. … well, I don’t have anything that rhymes with “Chauncey’’ or “Billups.’’ Indeed, like the word “orange,’’ the English language provided no word that rhymes with “Chauncey’’ and “Billups.’’
Anyway, some up-to-the-moment stuff from the AAC:
*Our man David Lord mentioned the other day that some Mavs lethargy may be the result of guys other than Dirk suffering from the flu. As usual, D-Lord is onto something. Coach Rick Carlisle, for one, is really struggling. As I roamed about the locker room tonight, I made sure no one breathed on me.
*Mavs owner Mark Cuban exchanges emails with the Denver paper and demonstrates an even-temperedness even immediately after the heated finish against the Nuggets. (via DMNews blog.)
*Just to confirm, MavsMoneyball dug up the rules that prevent Billups from kicking his leg out while shooting – an old trick perfected by Reggie Miller and Karl Malone – and winning the game because of it. It doesn’t change the 99-97 loss, but yeah, that is the rule and the call against Dallas was wrong.
*A weak-voiced Carlisle just completed his pregame presser with the media (I mean JUST, at 6:21) and was asked about a possible hangover from Denver.
"I don’t think so,'' he said. "New Orleans is the kind of team. ... they’re good. There is familiarity from last year. … But you’ve got to be able to wash away those losses as well as you do with the wins that make you feel good. And that’s what we’ll do.’’
