Lunch Donuts: I'm Jekyll-And-Hiding

     DONUT 1: How many points is 133? Tim MacMahon offers some historical perspective, which is good. Me? I’m so stuck on Dallas – are these numbers really right?! -- allowing 101 points after three periods and allowing 111 points over the final three quarters that I can’t hardly see straight.
   The Bucks average 97 points per game but are able to throw that up in less than three quarters?

     DONUT 2: Cute note from Wages of Wins on how the Mavs have never earned a playoff berth in a year in which a Democrat was in the White House. Cute. … but anybody who knows the pre-Cuban Era history of this franchise knows that back in the day, the Mavs couldn’t have made the playoffs if Ralph Nader, Abe Lincoln and Roy Tarpley were the Leaders of the Free World.

     DONUT 3: Jason Kidd sounds happy to me. … and prepared to play until he’s 40.

     DONUT 4: To paraphrase one smart-alecky member of The 75-Member Staff:

     *What is a “Charlie Villanueva’’?

     *How can we get us one?

     *Does it come pre-assembled or do I have to purchase the eyebrows separately?

     DONUT 5: Do fans have a voice? Sixers4Guidos is fixin’ to find out. I post this for a couple of reasons, one of which is to suggest that yes, Mavs fans have a voice, too. Like, here.

     DONUT 6: Congrats to DISD for receiving a $3.77-mil grant. Here’s hoping it’s not all spent on office furniture, lost credit cards or general misappropriation.

   They’re Jekyll-and-Hyde. After that embarrassment, I’m Jekyll-and-HIDE.

     DONUT 10: Once upon a time, Rick Reilly hated blogs. Now that he’s churning out one for ESPN, he probably hates blogs less. Unless he reads the one he writes. Which is sort of awful. And therefore worthy of his scorn.

     DONUT 11: I know Sally Jenkins is trying to be semi-funny here with her wish that Obama would fix some sportsworld woes. But let me be very serious, especially inasmuch as the President himself has commented on the BCS: Dear Mr. President and Dear Sally, college football doesn’t matter. Freshman eligibility rules do not matter. And women’s rights in sports REALLY do not matter. War, poverty, education. Let’s focus on those.

    And then, eight years from now, after everything important is all zipped up, right down to the potholes, we’ll worry about “Candace Parker playing Obama one-on-one to promote the WNBA.

     DONUT 12: A P.S. on that because I simply cannot resist: If the WNBA was worth promoting, wouldn’t a one-on-one game between Candace and another, you know, WNBA player, be enough?
