Let’s get you set for tonight’s Mavs/Warriors game with news from today pregame shootaround – news regarding a hopeful Damp, J-Ho’s semi-injury-status upgrade and a last gasp for Capt. Jack:
ITEM: There was still no general-media-access sign of Erick Dampier this morning. Coach Rick Carlisle said the center has had limited practice all week and will be a game-time decision. Meanwhile, the intrepid Eddie Sefko tracked down the big man and notes that Damp seems hopeful.
“It’s possible I could go,’’ Damp said.
Whatever happens, we can assume we’ll see lots of Ryan Hollins.
ITEM: Josh Howard was on the court and doing some shooting with assistant coach Darrell Armstrong. J-Ho is doubtful for tonight but the Mavs do hope he can go through a full practice on Thursday. That represents an injury-status upgrade of sorts, giving hope that the ankle/foot problems are improving.
ITEM: Stephen Jackson has a semi-serious injury problem. But before it’s addressed, he will try to get under the Mavs skin one more time – and then maybe he goes on the shelf for the season. According to the Contra Costa Times, Jax will head to Houston after tonight’s game to have his toe checked out.
ITEM: You saw some tired legs from the Mavs last weekend. Therefore, the team was thankful for the unusually long break. But based on our “mood gauge,’’ they do seem energized and ready to be back on the court.
