Dirk's First Interview: 'Frustrated, Sad And Angry'

   We’re always a little skeptical of articles in the foreign press (of course, around here we’re skeptical of articles in the around-here press, too). But here is what purports to be the first summer interview with Dirk Nowitzki – apparently at “a press conference in Frankfurt,’’ where the Mavs superstar was “locker and bronzed, with a chin beard, wild curly hair and T-shirt.’’

   “I can laugh again, I can have fun again,’’ said Dirk, who described himself as “naïve’’ … as well as “frustrated, sad and angry.’’

    The story (translated by Google here) mentions how Nowitzki and Cristal Taylor met. (Was it really by accidental phone call? Or is Dirk believing another fib, confirming his naïvete?) It mentions their plans for marriage … and Dirk’s feelings during their conflict, and the news that Nowitzki will now fight for sole custody of the unborn baby if it is established that he’s the father.

    But mostly, the brief story grants some insight into Nowitzki’s mood – complete with a photo from Reuters that appears to be from the press conference. Back from vacation, it does seem he’s ready to move on after “the worst weeks of my life.’’
