It’s Mavs Monday Morning Donuts, with major predictions for the Mavs and major injury news that impacts Tuesday’s opener against the Wizards. …
DONUT 1: Old friend Antawn Jamison says that last year’s Wizards season was “a nightmare’’ because of all the injuries. For Antawn, the nightmare continues.
Jamison injured his right shoulder in a preseason game on Oct. 14. It’s a “subluxation’’ – meaning his shoulder popped from its socket. Jamison will miss the opener at Dallas on Tuesday and is expected to miss another three-to-five weeks after that.
DONUT 2: The refs are back. And Dirk Nowitzki shall never foul out of a game – or be ejected from a game – again.
DONUT 3: From Interbasket: A list of the NBA's top 30 international scorers of all time.
DONUT 4: Does this mean future Frisco D-League owner Donnie Nelson will soon be sitting alone atop a billboard?
DONUT 5: Michael Beasley’s post-rehab recovery seems to be going pretty well.
DONUT 6: Yet another witness to how difficult it really is to remain really good for a decade (otherwise known as 9X50): Joe Johnson has questions about the direction of his next-big-thing Hawks.
DONUT 7: Finally we move on to the regular season. It’s serious … and you might want to dress the part. … in your DallasBasketball.com T-shirts! At the Oct. 27 opener against the Wizards, you will see folks wearing them. (Especially the “DallasBasketball.com classic’’ and “The UberMan.’’
Wouldn’t you like to see those same folks see you wearing one?
DONUT 8: In an interview with reelsportsfan.com, Chancellor Stern insists he wants LeBron to stay clear of New York and to instead re-up with the Cavs.
DONUT 9: I’ve read 100 Mavs season preview stories in the last month. This one from SI is among the few that suggests the author actually watches Mavs games.
DONUT 10: ESPN predictors think Rick Carlisle has a good shot at Coach of the Year (makes some sense) and think Jason Terry has little chance at Sixth Man of the Year (makes little sense).
DONUT 11: Twitter me.
DONUT 12: We’ll have blanket coverage of the Mavs practice today – quotes and notes, news and views – and we’ll do the same thing as we camp out all day at the AAC on Tuesday as well for gameday. Look for DallasBasketball.com to pop up on ESPN 103.3 Radio as well … get ready for 48 straight hours of wall-to-wall Mavs coverage the way it’s supposed to be done … here at DallasBasketball.com!
DONUT 13: Bill Simmons says the Spurs are going to lead the NBA in wins with 64, that the Lakers will be second in the West with 63 … and only one other team in the West will win 50? Oh, and that Dallas will be limited to 46?
