Tuesday Morning Donuts, with the Jazz in town, Rick Carlisle in charge of execution, Mavs in the Power Rankings, Tim Donaghy's job applications ... and is Pau Gasol more seriously hurt than anybody knows? … it's a baker's dozen for your enjoyment!
DONUT 1: Steiny Mo’s NBA Power Rankings, with the Mavs way up yonder.
DONUT 2: Here’s a deal from Denver where the newspaper is no longer allowing its writers to pick games. I see the ethical conundrum. But aren’t they taking themselves a bit seriously?
DONUT 3: NFL Something to watch for tonight (Jazz at Mavs, 7:30 p.m. at the AAC, and yes, full day-and-night coverage from DB.com starting … now!): How frequently the Mavs, coming out of timeouts or closing quarters with set playcalls, execute with precision to get good shots. His advantage in that area was glaring on Saturday – of course, when he gets to be compared to LAC’s Mike Dunleavy, it ought to be glaring – but I think we’re seeing an excellent execution marriage between Carlisle and Kidd in this department.
DONUT 4: Few things please me as much as being able to turn you onto something positive in the Mavs world. … and this is another one of those somethings:
Fish,
so my friend turned me onto the 75 member conglomerate known as dallasbasketball.com this summer and it blows my mind that i was once without your daily updates. basketball is the one true sport for me and your passion and mavs-knowledge is second to none, and what all of you do is truly appreciated.
since becoming a daily reader i, through you, have discovered mavcowtickets.com. i dont know how they do it, or why, but ryan robertson and co are providing an amazing service to the mavcow community. not only are the deals simply incredible but the few times ive spoken with ryan he does not cease to impress. his attention to detail is quite good. he speaks to you as if you were a person... nay a friend, rather than another to-do on his routine checklist. After failing to attend ANY games last year have already attended the jv cavs preseason game, will be in big d tomorrow for the jazz matchup, and have purchased tickets in december and am probably just getting warmed up. the deals are so good that i selfishly want to keep it to myself, however.. they are too good.
thanks again..
Aaron
Guys, I get five or six emails a week along these same lines. Thanks for your support of DallasBasketball.com, and thanks for letting Ryan at MavCowTickets.com as well as the guys at Bella, Richard Self at Texas Toyota, and the rest of our sponsors, make me look good as well.
DONUT 5: We won’t have Bill Walton to kick around anymore. Health concerns are forcing him to retire from broadcasting … and thus marks the end of the reign of the King of Slush-Mouthed Hyperbole. And I mean that lovingly.
DONUT 6: The injury update on Pau Gasol is better worse than we first thought. Good Bad.
DONUT 7: Your DallasBasketball.com T-shirt is here! The “DallasBasketball.com classic’’ and “The UberMan’’ and the “Fish for Lunch’’ and “The DUST Chip’’ are yours for the taking! Please visit the DB.com Store today!
DONUT 8: For poor Michael Redd – the Bucks erstwhile star often linked to the Mavs in trade gossip – it’s always somethin’.
DONUT 9: We engaged in a spirited debate the other day on 103.3 ESPN Radio about why TCU lacks the fan base it deserves as a top-six-in-the-nation football team. We now sic a proud Horned Frog himself, Angry Trey, on the subject.
DONUT 10: Tim Donaghy is getting out of prison and is hoping for a job in “sales or marketing.’’ Would you hire this man?
DONUT 11: Brent Barry has a network job. Jon Barry has a network job. Why is it the only member of the family with real talent, dad Rick Barry, is the only one without a network job?
DONUT 12: Did Drew Gooden yell homophobic slurs at a heckling Clippers fan? Hey, Drew, next time, think before you speak ... and know that it would've been hurtful enough to just yell back at the guy that he's a Clippers fan.
DONUT 13: I knew Chris Kaveman could shoot. But I didn’t know he could shoot.
The DB.com Store: New designs, "The UberMan,'' "Fish For Lunch'' and "The DUST Chip''!
