The NBA will unveil the All-Star ballot Tuesday in Dallas, with the Mavs serving as the hosts of the event ... and five Mavs in particular participating in the luncheon/press conference … and for a darn good reason: The Mavs’ “Fave Five’’ -- Dirk Nowitzki, Shawn Marion, Jason Kidd, Jason Terry and Josh Howard – are apparently on that ballot.
The details:
The gimmick is this: Those five players will “cast the first votes’’ during the event, which is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the AAC. Among those present will be Mayor Tom Leppert, Mavs owner Mark Cuban and emcee Mark Followill, all there to of course commemorate the fact that North Texas is hosting the Feb. 10, 2010 NBA All-Star Weekend.
Look for Cuban and Leppert to cast their votes on a 7-foot-tall ballot … and look for them to vote for the Mavs players.

Fans will be able to do the same thing (except on regular-sized ballots) by selecting their favorites as starters for the 2010 NBA All-Star Game. The NBA All-Star ballot will list 120 players – 60 each from the Eastern and Western Conferences – with 24 guards, 24 forwards, and 12 centers from each conference comprising the list.
According to Eddie Sefko, all the members of the Mavs’ “Fave Five’’ are on that ballot. (Eddie also notes that according to his sources, Erick Dampier is not on the ballot.)
DallasBasketball.com will provide full coverage of the Tuesday event.
