The Mavs were always on Stephen Jackson’s wish list. But Capt. Jack – not so much due to his chronic disgruntlement but more due to his bloated contract – was never really on Dallas’ wish list. So the Warriors have gone elsewhere for a partner and according to ESPN’s Marc Stein, Jackson is moving East.
Golden State is swapping Jackson to Charlotte, along with Acie Law, in exchange for Raja Bell and Vladimir Radmanovic.
Cleveland and the Spurs were among the teams that considered acquiring Jackson. But they, like Dallas, likely didn’t want to forfeit any real talent in the deal. … and even then were probably hesitant to take on Jackson’s contract, worth $36 mil for the next four years.
As we reported back in August, this is just the beginning of what could be a fire sale in Golden State, where Uncle Nellie also wants to jettison Monta Ellis. … and may want to ship himself back to Maui, too.
Jackson, of course, is a Mavs nemesis with a knack for defending Dirk Nowitzki -- and he'll now be out of the Western Conference. Raja Bell, a former Mav, is a Nellie favorite and is in the final year of his contract.
