Dennis Rodman in trouble in Germany and DB.com has the scoop ... Are you offended by Kevin Garnett's leadership style? ... Mike Fisher's real solution to the Mavs' 3-point shooting. ... The Cowboys' squeaky win. ... Hey, didn't you used to be "Mavs Free-Agency Mistake Brandon Bass''? All part of your Monday Morning Mavs Donuts!
DONUT 1: The 75-Member Staff offered you the translated news from Germany last night (Broken Cristal Speaks!) and here’s the second-end of the doubleheader: Dallas’ own Dennis Rodman was recently in Germany and was arrested for skipping out on a hotel bill:
According to our DallasBasketball.com friends in Germany, one of Dallas’ favorite sons – OK, one of Dallas’ most infamous sons – tiptoed into trouble with the law in Germany for skipping out on a hotel bill.
Dennis Rodman was apparently in Germany playing for the “USA Legends of Basketball.’’ In his career he has earned tens of millions of dollars. But he could not pay for his hotel room in Trier .3.391,77 Euros were still open while the 48-year-old made his way to the Frankfurt airport. The hotel immediately filed criminal charges. In Montabaur, the Highway Patrol stopped the often out-of-control star and arrested him on a provisional basis. The media in Germany says (our translation): "After he paid the bill and bail he was allowed to continue his journey.''
I don’t know how much .3.391,77 Euros is. ... but what a journey it is.
DONUT 2: By the way, regarding my posting of and writing on the Broken Cristal story: Many of you are of the opinion that I should’ve kept my promise to never speak of this woman again. But I appreciate the sentiment of a DB.com reader who emails:
“Even if Cristal Taylor is generally a person not worth talking about…this article shows how screwed up she is with all the new lies she is tossing around. Keep up your good work, which is giving us ALL the news and analysis about the Mavs.’’
And with that, let me at least promise to move forward while trying to avoid Broken Cristal overload, OK?
DONUT 3: Kevin Garnett is such a terrific leader that he can yell at teammates, “We gonna bully these n----s!’’ and it is somehow considered inspirational.
DONUT 4: That decision over the visiting Redskins on Sunday was the first 7-6 final score in the 50-year history of Dallas Cowboys football. So. …yeah, this bunch of Cowboys are record-setters!
And did Roy Williams open his mouth (if not his hands) and actually say:
“This football team is good enough to win the Super Bowl’’?
With all of Roy’s money, can he not afford DirecTV’s Sunday Ticket?
Full Cowboys coverage, as always, at Blogging The Boys.
DONUT 5: If you want FISH on the radio, if you want Mavs on the radio. …You get 103.3 ESPN Radio’s “Mavs Magazine’’! We’ll do it every Saturday through the NBA season, from 10-to-11 a.m., on the Mavs flagship station, 103.3 ESPN Radio! … it’s the official Mavs radio show, full of Mavs guests – players, media, coaches, you name it!
Oh, and thanks, too, for the response to my work on the Mavs pregame and postgame shows with hosts Ben & Skin. That’s going to continue to be a regular deal, so. … some game nights and every Saturday, we serve you Fish on 103.3 ESPN Radio!
DONUT 6: They replayed the Mavs-at-Bucks OT game yesterday on NBATV. It was pretty fun watching Dirk knock the eyebrows clean off Charlie V.
(UPDATE: Of course, Charlie V. now plays for Detroit. And of course, he has a disorder that causes the lack of eyebrows and such. And of course, Charlie V. is a wonderful man who does great charity work. But let's don't let facts get in the way of a good joke, OK?)
DONUT 7: Another DNP for Brandon Bass in Orlando.
Boy, that Magic management is so much smarter than that Dallas management, eh?
Yesterday I declared that Drew Gooden is clearly winning the Gooden-vs.-Bass debate. On DB.com Boards, the gang is saying that heck, even Kris Hunkphries is winning the Hunkphries-vs.-Bass debate. And really, inasmuch as James Singleton sits in Dallas just like Brandon sits in Orlando, I guess the Singleton-vs.-Singleton debate is tied.
DONUT 8: The New Jersey Nots are off tonight. So that's a non-loss. The Nots are at Denver on Tuesday night. That should make it 0-14. ...
DONUT 9: The Big Lead tells us the Wizards are having problems with selfishness and with Gilbert Arenas expressing regrets over … well, over trying unselfishness on for size and not liking it.
My take: All of this is evidence once again that “talking the talk’’ is nothing compared to 9X50.
DONUT 10: I am going to continue to disagree with esteemed colleagues like Eddie Sefko who over the course of the last two seasons in the Rick Carlisle Era believe there is a key to bad 3-point shooting that must be unlocked.
I guess my attempt at wisdom is unconventional, because my I am of a completely different opinion on the
subject of Dallas’ 3-point shooting: If a team isn’t good at making 3’s, a team should shoot FEWER of them.
DONUT 11: DallasBasketball.com presents the DB.com Store. Dig it.
DONUT 12: Don't forget about our DB.com Mavs Watching Party, Wednesday, Dec. 2 at Hacienda on Henderson in Dallas! The whole gang will be there ... clip that ad/coupon right there ... and you get the buy-one/get-one-free entree deal courtesy of DallasBasketball.com ... we'll have the Mavs-at-Nets game (tip at 6:30), T-shirts, Mavs tickets, you name it ... Check out the info at this blog entry ... and c'mon on!
DONUT 13: And now Marv Albert says he was never near 50 Cent on the “Jimmy Kimmel’’ show headquarters and was never involved in a brawl.
Which is both a relief and yet a disappointment, you know?
