Friday Morning Mavs Donuts, featuring the second half of the Mavs’ Turkey Sandwich, a possible Danny Granger-free night, and a story about a guy who the Mavs find truly inspirational ... as I believe you will, too:
DONUT 1: He lunches with Josh Howard, gets texts from Dirk Nowitzki and does business with Mark Cuban. … He’s Ray Johnston and you should read his story.
DONUT 2: So after what Monta Ellis did the other night against Dallas … should the Mavs, knowing Nellie is a seller there, be a buyer? A great conversation on that topic here on DB.com Boards, fueled by our man David Lord’s continued assertion – in the face of a 37-point night! – that Monta just ain’t worth it.
DONUT 3: The Mavs are better on the road (6-2) than they are at home (5-2) and get a chance to add to that traveling oddity tonight in Indianapolis. Tipoff is at 7 against a Pacers team that probably won’t have star Danny Granger (knee). Shawn Marion is day-to-day for the Mavs, who played the day before Thanksgiving in Houston, play at Indiana tonight and have yet another second-night-of-a-B-2-B situation in Cleveland on Saturday.
DONUT 4: Speaking of the Pacers and Thanksgiving … a nice little father-and-son tale.
DONUT 5: Ron Artest, welfare fraud, a holdup, a “ruined Thanksgiving’’ and Twitter … a perfect marriage.
DONUT 6: Art Garcia does a great job collecting reflections of NBA stars on the impending retirement of Allen Iverson … but then A.I. goofs it all up by maybe un-retiring or maybe by un-quitting or maybe not or maybe it was just an attention-getting ruse or maybe Stephen A. Smith is a pawn.
Marc Stein fills us in here …
What I know for sure is this: If I’m a good basketball team that is serious about winning (as opposed to be a bad team that needs to sell tickets), I don’t have time for this sort of melodrama.
Which is why I’m not signing Allen Iverson.
DONUT 7: If you want FISH on the radio, if you want Mavs on the radio. …You get 103.3 ESPN Radio’s “Mavs Magazine’’! We’ll do it every Saturday through the NBA season, from 10-to-11 a.m., on the Mavs flagship station, 103.3 ESPN Radio! … it’s the official Mavs radio show, full of Mavs guests – players, media, coaches, you name it!
Plus, I’ll update you on when DallasBasketball.com represents on the Mavs pregame and postgame shows, too. We serve you Fish on 103.3 ESPN Radio!
DONUT 8: The holiday season. A good time to get that special someone their shirt from the DB.com Store. (On Black Monday, may I recommend the black “DUST Chip’’ shirt? You’re welcome!
DONUT 9: It's time for the playing of our National Anthem ... hey, where did Blazers star Brandon Roy go?
DONUT 10: Full coverage of the Cowboys’ win over the Raiders is at Blogging The Boys.
DONUT 11: From BallerBlogger: The Raptors are on pace to be the best offensive and worst defensive team (that’s right, simultaneously) in modern NBA history when adjusted to the league average, writes Kevin Pelton.
DONUT 12: The Nets are now at 0-15. "It's hard to sleep at night,'' says friend-of-DB.com Devin Harris. "We're starting to lose faith in the team. ...''
Starting to?
The DB.com Store: New designs, "The UberMan,'' "Fish For Lunch'' and "The DUST Chip''!
